Behind the Scenes: Balancing Art, Social Media & Real Life

Running a creative business is never just about making pretty things - it’s also keeping up with website updates, refreshing listings, staying on top of eBay, adjusting photos, writing descriptions, and making sure everything is where it needs to be. There’s a lot that happens quietly behind the scenes.
On top of that, there’s social media - daily posts, videos, engagement, answering messages, staying current with platform changes, and trying not to overthink algorithms too much. It takes time. Real time. And it’s work that often goes unseen.
And woven through all of it has been life - including taking care of a few medical issues along the way. Slowing down when needed to. Finding balance where we can.
Life has been full… but it’s also been meaningful.
The Creative Side: Still Making, Still Dreaming
This month I’ve been working on new badge reels, fresh pendant designs, and experimenting with new color combinations and themes. There’s something so satisfying about seeing an idea move from mold to finished piece.

Crowwolf has been working with some fun new leather - exploring fresh ideas for bags and other designs when he can. He’s been door dashing full time, which keeps him busy most days, so creative time happens in pockets - evenings, slower mornings, whenever we can carve it out. That’s the rhythm of small business life.

The Reality of Social Media
There’s also the time spent online - something that’s become such a large part of running a small business.
Posting consistently, editing photos, filming demolding videos, responding to comments, adjusting to algorithm changes… it adds up. Some days it feels effortless. Other days it feels like a second full-time job.

But here’s the thing - I’ve come to truly enjoy the community that has grown around FaeMoon. The conversations. The encouragement. The familiar names that show up on posts. The kindness shared in comments.
It’s not just about reach or numbers. It’s about connection. And that part makes the time worthwhile.
Small Town Life & Finding Balance
Living in a small rural town shapes how we run our business.
There’s a slower pace here. We support local businesses whenever we can. We know familiar faces. Life isn’t rushed the way it is in bigger cities.
There’s also the beauty of this area - wide Colorado skies, the quiet rhythm of the valley, wildlife passing through, and the subtle seasonal shifts that inspire so much of my photography and resin work and Crowwolf's leathercraft and burn designs.

That slower pace reminds me to breathe.
To not chase everything.
To build something steady instead of frantic.
Gratitude & Looking Ahead
I am deeply grateful for our customers and for every single follower who takes the time to like, comment, share, or simply check in.
Your support allows us to keep creating.
As February winds down, I’m already feeling the pull of spring. The light is changing. The days are stretching a little longer. And before we know it, the Sandhill Cranes will return in large numbers - one of my favorite signs of the season ahead.
There’s something hopeful about this time of year.
Still creating.
Still growing.
Still grateful.
And always looking forward.
